Paris to eliminate gas- and diesel-powered vehicles from the city by 2030, reports Reuters.
Like many other cities around the world, Paris has enforced strict regulations on vehicles to stop pollution in present years. It as brought about car-free days and restricted vehicles that are older 20 years from being able to the city. Now from 2030, only electric cars will be allowed in the world’s most visited city.
Luckily, Parisians have entrance to a robust public transportation system that should relieve the pain of the gas car ban. Many people do not own cars, an option that would be absurd in some cities in the U.S.A including Los Angeles.
Paris City Hall refuses to call the move a “ban” on combustion-engine cars, but quite a deadline for making an exit. As Paris prepares to host the 2024 Olympics, it is more likely we’ll see rather a bit of improvement on the ban by that time.
As we learned a few months ago, France will put an end to the sale of gas and diesel cars by 2040.Britain has proposed the very same timeline for ending the sale of interior combustion vehicles. China lately confirmed it wanted to curb selling gas and diesel cars, and Germany hinted at similar objective. Here on our shores, California is considering jumping on the bandwagon. The U.S.A. remains the world’s biggest polluter, though there is no sign pointing to an end of gas and diesel car sales throughout the country.
