Mitsubishi will offer a look of how a future SUV model could look when it disclosed the e-Evolution perception at the Tokyo motor show this month.
True to other concepts of recent shows, it’s a low-slung SUV-coupé with an electric power-train and four wheel drive. The company said
the car will flag the brand’s future direction - probably in styling and power trains, together with artificial intelligence, recommending a high level of autonomy.
Though there's no official word as to whether the car will make production, its arrival backs proposing that the e-Evolution moniker will resume to the market via an SUV.
The company said, the concept, which it illustrate as a leading model, uses expanded reality technology to flawlessly pass information to the driver while moving.
The e-Evolution uses a triple motor set-up - one driving the front wheels and two at the back - to offer four-wheel drive and enable active yaw control.
The idea is the first car to bear Mitsubishi’s Evolution name since the last Lancer Evolution's Final Edition, it was sold in a non-UK markets in 2015.
After a turbulent period, Mitsubishi was acquired in 2016 by Nissan. This brought the brand into the Renault-Nissan Alliance, which is now known as Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi.
The idea will introduce a new chapter for the brand, which celebrates its centenary this year, and looks to return Mitsubishi to growth and justifiable development.
