The 2018 Ferrari Portofino.

The 2018 Ferrari Portofino is now being replaced by the California T as the Italian automaker’s new entry-level car and as it rides on a different platform that’s lighter than before. Under the hood is the usual twin-turbo 3.9-liter V-8 from the California T but tuned to 591 hp and 561 lb-ft of torque. Just like the California T, the Ferrari Portofino boast of a hard-folding top that’s stowed in the trunk; However, unlike its predecessor, the Ferrari Portofino is a lot more sleek and more antagonistic.
Up front you’ll immediately notice the aggressive fascia that has Ferrari’s corporate headlight design and a wide lower air intake, giving it a more enforced appearance than the California T, which has a less angular front end. The side view of the Portofino gives a more muscular appearance with its large rear haunches and is in full display with the roof stowed. The Portofino’s fold-able top also goes with the car’s lines to give it more unified look compared to the California T, especially when it is viewed from the side.

At the back, the Portofino continues with more aggressive design thanks to its quad exhaust tips and a rear tray that seem to look like it protrudes out of the bumper a little. Its taillights are similar to the ones of the California T; however, the Portofino’s taillights are not covered by bodywork and appear to be more three-dimensional.

On the inside, the Portofino’s cabin looks alike to other recently launched Ferrari models we’ve seen, with a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen as the center gadget. There are also two multi-information displays flanking the larger tachometer and a smaller screen positioned right in front of the front passenger seat. Ferrari also updated the buttons and knobs on the Portofino, putting it in line with the rest of the automaker’s lineup. The air ventilation’s shape and position, however remain unchanged compared to the California T.
